Bee Thankful

Mom and I have gotten into something called art journaling, which basically is using a blank sketch book and taking rubber stamps, paper, paint, gelatos, (chalky, but kind of  a paint) and anything really, to create something cool. We like to watch youtube videos to give us ideas. Since Mom and I prefer things neat and organized, we're often horrified at how some of them will slap a bunch of stuff on the page and really go to town and usually it looks awful, but yet they just keep going and it turns out amazing! Sometimes just the opposite happens, where they have something cool, and then splatter it with paint, or do something that ruins it.  Mom was just saying that with my page a true art journalist probably wouldn't stop with this, it would just be the beginning!  Personally, I like having things a little more on the simple side.
On Mother's Day Emily gave Mom a paper punch that has a circle, a little flower petal along with a big petal.  Mom had it sitting out since she was going to use it for a page she was doing, so I picked it up desperately looking for something that I could make into a bee. It worked! I actually made both the bees and the flowers from that same punch. It turned out  pretty cool, didn't it?

Palisades Park

Yesterday Emily had the idea to go to the Palisades Park! We left at about 2:30 and got home at almost
6 p.m. We didn't do much hiking, mostly skipped rocks and just explored a chunk of land.  Josiah, Ruth and I saw shrimp too! When we told Mom, she couldn't believe it!  Ruth assured her that's what it really was! After all, that's what it said on the bag! ;)
We also got to go to Anamosa and see fireworks! They were delayed due to the flooding that happened around the 4th of July. They were pretty good! A little scary though, because we were so close it looked like some of the big ones might touch us! Their was a boo boo in the middle, and a couple exploded on the ground! A huge gust of smoke came rolling towards us and swallowed us up! It was a little creepy! Afterwards we stood at the nearby gas-station to watch a policeman as he directed traffic.  After standing there for about fifteen minutes, we marveled over how easily entertained we are! :)

My Scarves

Here they are…my first sashay scarves! These are the two I made this past week just by the instructions I found on the internet!  I love the internet!  The rust colored one was my guinea pig to make all my mistakes on, so I wouldn't mess up on my favorite, the multicolored one.  My sister-in-law knits her scarves and I think they look better, but I just couldn't figure out the instructions so I crocheted mine.  Considering how fun they are to make, I have a feeling I'll be stocking up on more yarn. :)

Family Picnic

A couple weeks ago on a lazy Sunday afternoon, we packed up a picnic, and went to the Mines of Spain.

This is right before we ate our picnic of sandwiches, chips, cheetos, melon, cheese and crackers, chocolate chip cookies, pudding cups, and sugar wafers in the gazebo at a park in Cascade.

I shan't show the pictures of me trying to get up on the thing! ;)

This is the tower that Mr. Dubuque (can't remember his name) is buried in.

While we looked out over the river, I noticed that Emily had disappeared! I saw a trail where she had been standing, so I followed it just to find that it lead right back up to where we were standing! Some trail!
Mom actually found that she had climbed through a whole in the fence, and was sitting on the rock below!

We climbed up a slick slope to check out a cave we found. It turned out to just be a dent in a rock. The trick was trying to climb back down!

My New Bright Toys!!

my new yarn and earings

Today I went to Hobby Lobby with some friends, and I bought some new goodies!! I got these two cool thingys that are for crafts and I made them into earrings! Aren't they cool? Esther was a dear and gave me the hooks for it. I  absolutely love them! Hopefully I can find something to wear them with on Sunday.
I'm going to try making the zany yarn into one of those bouncy scarves that are so popular now a days. With the help of Lydia, Esther and the Internet I should be able to figure it out! :)

they are so neat!

Kitty Photo Shoot!

Today was a very slow, boring day, so I thought that a photo shoot with the cats would be a lot of fun! I have some very dramatic photos, and some hilarious ones! So let me introduce you to my fuzzy models!
This adorable cat below is Twizzlers. She is my house cat, and she is four years old. She mostly sleeps, but also loves her catnip mice. She has her very own room, complete with a baby bassinet and a cushy blue booster seat she sleeps in. She also likes to thumb her nose at me when she sits up on the top of moms studio walls where I can't reach her!!

Twizzlers looks like such a toad in this picture!! :)

This is the kitty I introduced to my blog a while back, who still remains nameless as far as I know. I'm not sure if its a boy or a girl yet, so I'll just refer to it as a he.
He loves to be petted! In fact he runs under my feet when I lift a foot up because he thinks its another chance to be petted! The past couple days I have found that he is very playful too! But then again what kitten isn't?

Aint he sweet?

This is Boxelder Bug! She is a hunter, so she keeps to herself a lot, but loves to be petted.  and if you pick her up she will find a way to sit on your shoulders! She also finds the strangest places to sleep! I've found in her sleeping in buckets, in very long grass, on plants, and in the little wheelbarrow. And those are just a few of her places. You never know where you might find her!

she chose the perfect place to pose for me!
And now for the fun part! I'll start with the pictures where I caught the cats with a funny look on their faces! I got some pretty good ones!!
Now, you must understand that Twizzlers is a very dignified cat, and the most silly pictures are of her! That fact makes them especially funny!

"You know I hate getting my picture taken!!"

"I hate this color of nail polish!"

"Huh? Let me see!"

"EWWWW! Thats gross."

"Huh??"

Aren't those hilarious?? Now for the drama! I'm not a terribly dramatic person, so I don't normally do things like this, especially the one with me in it, but I sure had a heyday playing around with these!!

How very dreamy!

Wow! She can let up on the eyeliner!!

aren't we gorgeous!

Scrapbooking!!

I have been doing a lot of scrap booking lately! Esther had called me a couple weeks ago and wanted to know if I would like to come over and do some scrapbooking with her. So mom got all my scrapbook junk together for me, and these are just two of my favorite pages I did. Probably because my model is so cute! ;)
